Wan Soon cheats migrant workers
For between four and six months this year, 200 Indian workers remained unpaid by Wan Soon Construction.
As a result of the company’s inability or refusal to pay wages, workers from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and China are owed between US$3,000 to US$7,000 each.
On 25 May, Wan Soon representatives agreed with the government’s Ministry of Manpower to pay the workers $600 each ($400 from the company’s insurance company, and $200 from the company), and in a hollow-sounding promise, said it would pay the balance ‘in due course’.
