This book is an account of the modern Thai working class in the late 1990s. There is a chapter on women workers which discusses sexuality, a chapter on bank workers as part of the working class and also an anthropological profile of 8 rank and file working class activists. An important theme throughout the book is the impact of the present economic crisis on the Thai working class and the relationship between the labour movement and the struggle for democracy.
