It is said that all roads lead to Rome. What roads and strategies lead to labour resurgence? This is the question which ever occupies our minds and hearts. In the previous issue of ALU, Issue 64, we already presented some different individual viewpoints of how the labour movement overall could and should move forward. This issue, we share several more particular strategies for labour resurgence, which were also presented at the AMRC 30th anniversary conference on that theme in August 2007: 1) labour dispute resolution legislation, 2) triangular solidarity, and 3) organizing worker victims of occupational accidents and disease. Part of the labour struggle is exploring different paths to worker empowerment and learning which paths lead to the goal and which are dead ends. We hope that Asian Labour Update can be a medium to share the different practical experiences of ‘walking on the path to labour resurgence’, i.e., of workers’ movements, so they can be transmitted to and give hope to other Asian labour struggles.
