Defend Trade Union Rights at the Jakarta Hotel Gran Meliá
Trade union rights are under assault at the Hotel Gran Meliá in Jakarta, organised by the IUF’s hotels affiliate in Indonesia, FSPM.
Under cover of an “efficiency” drive, management has illegally dismissed a number of union members, including current and former officers, barred union officials from the hotel premises and unilaterally terminated distribution of the automatic dues checkoff - workers’ money which it continues to collect.
The Meliá group is the world’s largest operator of hotel resorts, with over 300 hotels in 27 countries, mostly in Spain, Latin America and the Caribbean. The Gran Meliá Jakarta has been a stronghold of the FSPM, the fastest growing hotel union in Indonesia and in the region. If you have not already done so, please send a protest message at the following link: http://www.iuf.org/cgi-bin/campaigns/show_campaign.cgi?c=290
