Construction workers strike for one week
280 workers at construction firm J S Hill decided to end their nine-day strike on 28 September after managers agreed to resolve some of the strikers’ complaints.

The building workers walked off the Lautoka Teachers College construction site after managers refused, among other demands, to conduct a site safety inspection and provide safety equipment for the workers.

An official of the Building Workers Union said that the strike ended only after government labour officials had issued JS Hill with a compliance notice.
